Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. In her early years she was enrolled in her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was six years old when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was found by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its debut day sales as well as opening weekend takings. Critics have praised both the film and the performances by the three young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma received five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
